Private One-on-One Sessions with Pamela Mortensen
Didgeridoo is a beautiful, deep, resonant instrument of the earth. We play didgeridoo because of the way it makes us feel and how it allows us to express what we are feeling. Learning new skills and techniques can sometimes be a challenge but you are not alone. Having an instructor can help you accelerate your progress by providing gentle and supportive feedback while going through the learning process.
Hello, my name is Pamela. Since 2005, I have explored and learned many techniques and skills on the didgeridoo to develop my own sound in music making. These skills have included marrying composition with didgeridoo, using dynamics, breath and body to shape the sounds and simply putting in the time to practice as a way to dive deep into the potential of this instrument. One of my passions and joys is to share this knowledge with my students in a supportive, inspiring and fun environment. Our lessons together can help you unlock your inner musician to play with expressiveness, confidence and a sense of fun. Some of the things we cover can include:
- Getting and clarifying a consistent drone.
- Demystifying circular breathing to help maintain the drone of the didgeridoo.
- Learn how to identify and break down blocks that hinder learning a new skill.
- Rhythms and rhythmic components that you can use to build your own rhythms and songs.
- Practice tips and techniques that keep playing interesting.
- Feeling rhythm in the body when you feel rhythmically challenged.
- Vocals to add color to your sound.
- Breath and diaphragm control to help your playing become effortless.
- Warm up and practice tips and techniques to facilitate a more productive outcome.
- Song crafting your own songs and how you can “write” them to remember them.
- Exploration of your own voice and style on didgeridoo
- Composition tips to polish your sound
- Playing meditatively to help calm your nervous system and feel more centered and so much more.
All levels and skills are welcome from beginner to advanced players. Slots are available in one hour ($75) and half hour ($40) sessions and are online. Lessons are recorded and accessible for you to reference and work with the material that we cover.
You can start your didgeridoo journey or if you have any questions just fill out the form below. After we schedule a lesson, you will then receive an email with the Zoom and payment links. Please make sure you make your payment in advance to guarantee your spot on the schedule.
